I am a dedicated systems engineer and technical strategist specializing in the nexus of energy storage and advanced mobility. My mission is to translate high-level theory into tangible hardware that functions under extreme conditions, providing the critical bridge between ambitious design concepts and flight-ready or road-legal certified reality.

With a portfolio spanning underwater robotics and high-altitude aerospace propulsion, I offer a perspective forged in two decades of hardware development. I thrive when solving the 'impossible' problems that demand perfect execution within highly regulated and safety-critical industries.

2004 – 2008

Western Washington University Vehicle Research Institute. Hands-on work on student-built hybrid and electric vehicles, learning full-vehicle integration.

2008 – 2016

Led mechanical engineering at US Hybrid, integrating power conversion systems and large high-voltage battery packs into heavy-duty electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell trucks and equipment, Rebuilt and upgraded HV packs for Coda all-electric passenger vehicles.

2016 – 2020

First full-time employee at Xos, directing electrical and mechanical engineering for every vehicle from the first ET1 prototype, including component selection, vehicle layout, HV/LV architecture, battery design, and building the engineering team.

2021 – 2023

Led packaging and integration for Canoo’s MPDV electric delivery van. Owned high-voltage EV system design for Czinger’s 21C hybrid hypercar. Overseeing hybrid powertrain design and electrical architecture at Banks, spanning simulations, component specs, and full-vehicle integration.

Ran Genesis, my own engineering consultancy for early-stage startups and small companies, and contributed to WET’s global immersive installations by designing propulsion systems, electronics, structures, and an HV battery pack for an autonomous underwater rover.

2024 – Present

Leading battery engineering for First Mode’s 200+ ton hybrid mining truck program and magniX’s high-voltage, high-density packs for aerospace propulsion. Currently building apps and providing ongoing consulting and advisory services.
