Professional Experience

magniX — Senior Battery Mechanical Engineer

magniX builds aerospace-grade electric propulsion systems on an 800-volt architecture — their tech has powered the world's largest flight-tested hydrogen-electric airplane. I oversaw battery development for 2-seater electric aircraft and helicopters, pushing a concept design toward a fully tested, certified, high-energy-density pack built to survive some of the harshest operating environments in aviation.

First Mode by Cummins — Technical Advisor,
Battery Engineering
lower-total-cost-operation-tm.webp

First Mode (part of Cummins) builds drop-in hybrid-electric retrofit systems for mining haul trucks that capture braking energy to cut diesel use and emissions, with a 2–3 year payback and no new infrastructure required. I led battery engineering for the hybrid mining truck program — overseeing supplier pack integration and developing First Mode's first in-house battery module and pack, using LTO chemistry to push the limits of a hybrid kit for 200+ ton mining dump trucks.

WET Design — Senior Product Engineer
Atlantis_The Royal_14.jpg

WET designs immersive water, fire, sound, and light installations that draw tens of millions of visitors to destinations worldwide. I worked on propulsion systems, electronics assemblies, and structural components for custom water features — including the HV battery pack for a new autonomous underwater rover.

Genesis Engineering LLC — President/Owner
Glid.jpg

My own engineering consultancy, helping early-stage startups and small companies develop their products — feasibility studies, requirements capture, and powertrain/vehicle architecture design, acting as interim CTO, Director of Engineering, or Lead Engineer depending on what the client needed.

Gale Banks Engineering (Banks Power) —
EV Lead Engineer
image-10-1024x576.jpeg

A 68-year-old performance engineering company known for national championships, world records, and military engine development. I oversaw design and engineering of hybrid powertrains — running performance/efficiency simulations, defining specs, and determining electrical architecture, schematic design, and harness routing.

Czinger Vehicles — Powertrain Design Engineer, EV Hybrid System

Czinger builds the 21C — a 1,250 hp hybrid hypercar (0–205 mph, 3,571 lbs) developed through "BioLogic" computational design and extensive additive manufacturing. I owned design and engineering of the HV EV system: simulations for component specs, HV component design and RFQs, and the vehicle's EV architecture, cooling routing, and mounting.

Canoo Inc. — Vehicle Integration Engineer

I oversaw packaging and integration for the MPDV (Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle) program — coordinating design across departments, resolving CAD conflicts, and helping deliver a class-leading electric delivery van.

Xos Inc. — Director of Vehicle Engineering & Integration

Xos builds battery-electric commercial trucks and mobile charging infrastructure for fleets. I was the company's first full-time employee, directing electrical and mechanical engineering for every vehicle from the first prototype (ET1) — component selection, vehicle layout, HV/LV architecture, battery design and manufacturing oversight, and hiring the engineering team.

US Hybrid Corporation — Lead Mechanical Engineer

US Hybrid designs power conversion systems that let heavy-duty trucks run as electric, hybrid, or fuel-cell platforms. I headed the Mechanical Engineering Department (10+ engineers and technicians), leading integration on large on/off-road electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell trucks and industrial equipment, and designing large HV battery packs.

CODA Automotive — Cross Functional Engineering Technician

Repaired, rebuilt, and upgraded HV battery packs on all-electric passenger vehicles, in the shop and in the field, plus prototype battery development and modification.
